Blackberry Playbook Repairs

The release of the Blackberry Playbook early last year dropped mouths across the blogosphere and gave the tablet a rather slow start as Research in Motion's first attempt at diversifying its product lines, a decade after its inception. It stood in no man's land as it had no solid shot at taking on Apple's iPad and later on the Samsung Galazy Tab but it was way too expensive to lock horns with the Kindle and its siblings.

However, its screamingly large hubris was also its saving grace. Fond users of the brand's smartphones heaped praises for its security and encryption standards. The cost-effective processor and slightly smaller build made it popular as more of a smarter smartphone than a dumbed down tablet.

Whether the company redeems its name or throws in the towel as a tablet brand remains to be unseen. The sheer lack of apps and third-party developers suggests that the Blackberry is threading the way of the Lancia Stratos.
