Taking its name for its globe-trotting features, the Tour 9630 was one of the first few phones to be able to make a phone call to over 185 countries right out of the box. The initial reception, however, left a lot to be desired.

While it had native integration with social networking platforms such as Facebook, Flickr and later on Twitter, it did not have the much-needed Wi-Fi support. The 3.2MP camera also did not do much to help the company's reputation for getting in touch with its users.

Still the Tour 9630 represented another era in Research in Motion's storied past. It was a transition period, a changing of the guard in terms of computing speeds, functionality and styling. This also proved to be the model's bane as not only of people were willing to shell out good money shortly after the next generations were announced.
